KNOXVILLE, Iowa - Police say a woman who drove the wrong way on Highway 92 in Knoxville died after crashing head-on with a semi trailer truck.
Knoxville police say 22-year-old Malloree Murphy of Pleasantville died at the scene. The driver of the semi, 71-year-old Ernest Smith of Knoxville declined treatment.
Police say they got a report just after 7:00 a.m. Saturday of a white minivan going east in the westbound lane, and an officer attempted to stop the driver, but she did not slow down.
Highway 92 westbound was closed from Exit 60 to Exit 62 for several hours after the crash for investigation and clean up.
