DES MOINES, Iowa - Hundreds of fans of fantasy and science fiction filled the Iowa Events Center this weekend for three days and nights of Wizard World and ComicCon.

Many dressed in costume, and some fans competed in the costume contest Saturday night. PHOTOS BELOW

Just a few of the stars to draw crowds over the weekend in Des Moines include:

  • David Tennant, the star of Doctor Who
  • Nichelle Nicholsm, Lieutenant Uhura on the original Star Trek
  • Elijah Wood, the hobbit Frodo Baggins in the Lord of the Rings
  • James Marsters, punk-goth vampire Spike in Buffy the Vampire Slayer
