Des Moines area flood victims still going to Disaster Center

DES MOINES, Iowa- Flood victims continue to show up at Polk County's Disaster Recovery Center at 2309 Euclid Avenue in Des Moines.  The center will be open Saturday, July 7th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sunday, July 8th from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.  A variety of services are available at the center.  Flood victims can also dial 2-1-1 to report flood damage.


Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds has issued a disaster declaration to extend service hours for commercial drivers hauling damaged property and debris in Polk County.

The proclamation temporarily suspends regulatory provisions of the Iowa Code pertaining to hours of service for commercial drivers hauling damaged property and debris from recent flooding within Polk County for the duration of this disaster.

Thirty-one Iowa counties are under state disaster declarations due to severe weather and/or flooding starting June 14th.
