An on-line employment search site says Iowa is the best state for jobs. Zippia.com gave Iowa it's top jobs ranking based on data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics and the U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey.
The ranking looked at the current jobless rate, Improvement in unemployment over the past year, home price comparisons, and how residents’ income improved year-over-year.
Iowa took the top spot largely because of its low cost of living--household incomes stretched further here than in any other state.
Iowa's unemployment rate is 2.4 percent--well below the national rate of 3.6 percent.
