First: Paper Straws Now: Paper Beer Bottles

For the record, paper straws DON'T WORK. I take two sips and the straw collapses. I'd rather my favorite downtown restaurant just hand me the glass. Except...now they may try to hand me a paper beer bottle. Color me skeptical.

Danish brewery Carlsberg says it is working on two prototypes of a wood fiber beer bottle it hopes to bring to market. The company says the bottles are recyclable and sustainably-sourced. One prototype is lined with a thin film of recycled plastic to keep beer from seeping out, and the other prototype uses a bio-based lining.

A spokesperson for Carlsberg said the fiber bottles will be better for the environment, and that their production reduces carbon emissions. They won’t replace the bottles or can they have, just give customers a green option.

One other problem: I think beverages out of a bottle TASTE better. Paper? Meh.
