DES MOINES, Iowa - A 14-year-old boy is dead after being shot overnight New Year's morning in Des Moines.
Police say they responded to a call at about 3:50 a.m. in the 1400 block of 17th Street. They found the boy, Josiah Woods, with a gunshot wound. Woods, a Des Moines resident, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Des Moines Police Department Crime Scene Investigation Unit is processing the scene for evidence. Police say witnesses are being interviewed and leads are being followed.
