Records: Woman Said Violent Husband Agreed to Being Tied Up Before Death

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa - A newly filed search warrant shows a Simpson College professor accused of murdering her husband claims he gave her permission to tie him up if he became violent.

41-year-old Gowun Park is charged with first degree murder and kidnapping after 41-year-old Sung Nam was found unresponsive in their West Des Moines home on February 15th.

First responders found Nam face-down and unresponsive after Park called 911 and said he was not breathing. Court records say Nam was also tied-up with a chair on top of him. Park said she had fallen asleep for an hour while watching a movie.

A search warrant shows that Park claimed to have recorded a video on her phone of Nam telling her to tie him up. Police say Park covered her face with her hands when they tried to access her phone through facial recognition.

A criminal complaint filed February February 19th says Park bound Nam's hands and feet with zip ties and then used rope to tie him to a chair. She's also accused of stuffing his mouth with clothing and duct-tying it up, as well as duct-tying a towel over his face.

Park is being held in the Dallas County Jail om a $5 million cash only bond.
