Arrest Made After Overnight Chase Ends in Crash of Stolen Motorcycle

DES MOINES, Iowa - An arrest was made overnight Tuesday after Des Moines police chased a man on a stolen motorcycle.

Police dispatch reported the chase started near Southwest 14th and McKinley on the south side.

The suspect was arrested on Dean Avenue, near the State Fairgrounds after laying down the motorcycle and trying to run on foot at around 1:15 this morning.

The suspect was taken to a hospital after possibly breaking their clavicle. There are no charges yet. Officers said the suspect had a gun.

Police say a friend of motorcycle owner made a bad attempt at "helping' during the chase.
