Much of Iowa Under Flash Flood Watch from Remnants of Cristobal

DES MOINES, Iowa - A Flash Flood Watch in effect today and tonight for central and eastern Iowa as the remnants of tropical storm Cristobal pass through Iowa.

There's a potential for heavy rainfall with totals of up to 2-4 inches inside the watch area which could lead to flash flooding.

A few strong to severe storms remain possible, especially in the southwest this evening. Longer term river flooding possible over the latter half of the week.

The Flash Flood Watch is slightly expanded west to the I-35 corridor. There is a Slight Risk for severe storms across southwest Iowa for later today with a marginal risk across the remainder of central Iowa.

The timing of main threats is projected to be from 6 pm to 11pm this evening. Threats include large hail, damaging winds and an isolated tornado.

The Flash Flood Watch is in effect until 7 a.m. Wednesday.
