Rallies and Demonstrations Continue for 11th Day in Des MoinesArea

DES MOINES, Iowa - Daily rallies and protests are continuing in and around Des Moines after the death of George Floyd while in Minneapolis Police custody May 25th

Monday marked the 11th day of demonstrations in the area.

Hundreds of people gathered at the corner of Valley West Drive & Ashworth Road in West Des Moines Monday evening for the "More Justice, More Peace" rally. The demonstration included a march through several neighborhoods between 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

Des Moines Black Lives Matter held a community picnic at Union Park earlier in the day, where a discussion on defunding the police department was scheduled. The gathering was titled "Imagining a world without police." It was organized by Black Lives Matter activist Matthew Bruce, and took place between i p.m. and 3 p.m.
