50% Business Restriction Ending, Pools to Reopen

DES MOINES, Iowa – Starting Friday morning Governor Kim Reynolds is relaxing the 50% capacity limitation on Iowa businesses that were put in place in an effort to limit the spread of COVID-19. The 50% restriction will end at 8:00 AM.

In Wednesday's COVID briefing, Gov. Reynolds affirmed that Iowa businesses must still take measures to allow for social distancing and follow guidelines from the Iowa Department of Public Health – including maintaining six-feet of social distancing.

The governor also said that swimming pools can open on Friday morning as well. They had been limited to lap swimming and lessons.

She also announced that senior centers and adult day care programs can open to the public.

In her update on the status of COVID-19 cases in Iowa, Gov. Reynolds said the numbers are trending in the right direction and that testing has increased to the point that 1 in 16 Iowans has been tested.

Thus far more than 200,000 tests have been completed. 622 Iowans have died from the virus and 22,179 have tested positive.
