Iowa's Ride Head Leaving Before First Ever Event for Arizona

DES MOINES, Iowa - The director of Iowa's Ride has resigned before its first event was ever staged.

TJ Juskiewicz has signed on to head another bicycle ride in Tuscon, Arizona.

Juskiewicz resigned from the Des Moines Register's RAGBRAI in October with the entire staff after the newspaper's coverage of the Carson King controversy.

He then started Iowa's Ride which was supposed to debut this summer, but was canceled over COVID-19 concerns.

Juskiewicz wrote on Facebook that, "It has been a great 17-year ride here in Iowa."

He went on to say, "I want to thank you for the great times and lifetime friendships that we have made here in the Midwest. It is now time for that next chapter… We will be heading to Tucson, Arizona at the end of the summer for new adventures".

Juskiewicz will now direct the "El Tour de Tucson", which he described as, "one of the country’s top cycling events and part of the culture of cycling in Arizona".
