5 Hospitalized in Dallas County Crash

DALLAS COUNTY, Iowa - Five people are hospitalized after a crash on Highway 44 just west of Dallas Center Sunday night.

Police say a person stole a white work truck in the Dallas Center area and crossed the center line on westbound Highway 44, striking two oncoming cars.

Eight people were injured, including adults and children. The state patrol says two women were flown to Des Moines hospitals with serious, life-threatening injuries, and three people were taken to local hospitals with minor to serious injuries.

The crash took place at about 7:40 pm on Highway 44, just west of Sportsman's Club Road. The patrol says one car caught fire with a person trapped inside.
