VP Mike Pence Returning to Iowa for Appearance with Christian Group

DES MOINES, Iowa - Vice President Mike Pence is about to make his fifth appearance in Iowa this year.

Pence will speak in Des Moines next Thursday at a gathering by the conservative Christian group The Family Leader.

He'll be joined by HUD Secretary Ben Carson, who was in Des Moines earlier this week.

Pence's trip comes as President Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden are locked in a tight battle for Iowa in November's election.

The event will take place at the Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center.

“We are thrilled to welcome to Iowa such a prominent guest as the Vice President of the United States,” says Bob Vander Plaats, president and CEO of The Family Leader Foundation. “This special event presents an unprecedented opportunity for Christian audiences to see how people of faith can have an impact in leading others and leading our nation. We’re exceptionally honored that Vice President Pence has agreed to come, and we believe it will be an inspiring and encouraging event!”

The gathering will also include author Joel Rosenberg and My Pillow CEO Mike Lindell.

Carson visited Des Moines this week to tour a housing complex for low-income seniors with Governor KIm Reynolds.

According to a news release from the Family Leader, the event known as the "Faith in Leadership, America’s Need for Revival” is "not a campaign rally, but an opportunity to educate and inspire Christians toward active, civic engagement and leadership."

Doors will open at the Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center in Des Moines at 1:15 p.m. and the event will begin at 3:15 p.m., according to the news release.

The Family Leader Foundation describes itself as "a ministry that seeks to strengthen families by inspiring Christ-like leadership in the home, church, and government."
