IOWA CITY, Iowa - The University of Iowa in Iowa City is taking action against a fraternity accused of excessive hazing.
The Acacia Fraternity is now suspended after the school says it demeaned new members for their religious beliefs and racial identities.
The Globe Gazette reports a campus investigation found the fraternity pressured them to drink so much that some members may have needed medical attention after vomiting.
Acacia is now suspended from the UI campus for two years, and will then be on two more semesters of probation.
Misconduct accusations against the fraternity have been reported at university campuses around the nation in the past several years. Acacia was suspended from Purdue University in 2015 resulting from a rape accusation.
