Iowa man charged with beating roommate with frying pan, vacuum cleaner

PLEASNT HILL, Iowa -- A Pleasant Hill man is charged with attempted murder after police say he severely beat his roommate.

Police say Dezrien Vance, 30, punched the victim and hit him with a vacuum cleaner, frying pan and a recliner Saturday.

A criminal complaint says Vance admitted to beating his roommate after the roommate slapped him.

The victim was taken to a hospital in Des Moines with life-threatening injuries then transferred to a hospital in Iowa City.

Vance is being held in the Polk County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
