Iowa crime lab analyzing human remains found in Mason City

(Mason City, IA) -- The State Medical Examiner's Office is analyzing human remans and clothing found in Mason City. Police say bone fragments and clothing were found along the north shore of the Winnebago River March 11th. Investigators returned to the area near Illinois Avenue this week to look for additional evidence. Identification is expected to take several weeks.

Investigators blocked Illinois Avenue yesterday (Thursday) between Birch Avenue and Highway 122 while they searched for evidence.

Mason City Police are working with the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the State's Medical Examiner's Office.
