Des Moines Man Convicted of Intentional, Fatal Hit-and-Run

(Des Moines, Iowa) -- A Des Moines man is facing 50 years in prison after being convicted of an intentional, fatal hit-and-run.

Jason Sassman was sentenced Monday, one year to the day of the hit-and-run death of Lauren Rice. Sassman was found guilty of running down Rice with his car while she was out walking her dog.

Police say Sassman was high on meth at the time and thought he was being chased.

A jury found him guilty of Second Degree Murder.
