Nationally Known Iowa Raceway to Open after COVID-19 Closure

KNOXVILLE, Iowa - A nationally known Iowa racetrack will drop the green flag after being closed last year over the COVID-19 pandemic.

Knoxville Raceway is known as the Sprint Car Capitol of the World.

It's set to host its first NASCAR race this summer after holding its first race if the season next weekend.

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will race at the Knoxville track in early July.

Knoxville Speedway is a half-mile oval dirt track that seats 25,000 people.

The top level NASCAR Cup Series held its first race on a dirt track in 51 years two weeks ago at the Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee.

The Knoxville track draws racers from across the country to its signature Knoxville Nationals event in August.
