(Nevada, IA) -- Crews are working to fix a heavily damaged power pole in Nevada, after a crash this (Tuesday) afternoon near Nevada Middle School along 15th Street, on the city's east side.
Nevada Fire Chief Ray Reynolds said, “A piece of heavy equipment caught the line and cracked a poll during construction work near the middle school.”
Reynolds says residents in the area will likely experience power and cable outages until Alliant Energy and Mediacom crews are able to lift the main lines up and make repairs.
The city's asking drivers to avoid the area.
