Des Moines Man Charged with Animal Neglect

(Des Moines, Iowa) -- A Des Moines man is in custody facing charges of animal neglect after a dog was found with a collar embedded in its neck.

The Animal Rescue League of Iowa says Jeremy Bronigan left the same collar on his puppy and never adjusted its size as the puppy grew.

The ARL is caring for the puppy, named Junie, and says she'll likely need surgery.

According to the ARL, the collar was about an inch and a half deep into Junie's neck, very close to her jugular, and the wound was very infected.

Bronigan was arrested Thursday morning.
