Cedar Rapids man charged with multiple counts of animal neglect

(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- A Cedar Rapids man's been arrested for animal neglect. Police say 30-year-old Demetrius Huston-Stewart is charged with Animal Neglect Causing Death and 7 counts of Animal Neglect.

Investigators say Huston-Stewart had a Pit Bull Terrier that had several puppies. One died and was left with the other dogs. Animal Care & Control officers and police executed a search warrant at 217 5th Street NW and seized six puppies. The dogs are described as very thin and malnourished, and were covered in urine and feces.

The mother dog and the puppies are currently at Animal Care & Control and are recovering.
