(Iowa City, IA) -- Police in Iowa City are teaming up with Johnson County to better investigate digital components to crimes.
"We can examine those devices and use that evidence we find in there to figure out exactly what happened right up to a crash," says Johnson County Sheriff Brad Kunkel." Or the location data for, say, a missing person."
The Joint Forensic Analysis Cyber Team will focus only on crimes that happen in Johnson county.
In 2021 alone, Iowa City Police have reported 86 crimes involving over 440 devices.
