Council Bluffs native wins bronze medal at Tokyo Olympics

(Tokyo, Japan) -- A Council Bluffs native is bringing home a bronze medal from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Thursday morning, 27 year old wrestler Thomas Gilman won the bronze medal in the Men’s Freestyle 57kg/125 lbs. Gilman lost to the two-time defending world champion Zaur Uguev earlier in the Olympics, but got the shot at a bronze. He wrestled Reza Atrinagharchi of the Islamic Republic if Iran to capture the third place medal.

Gilman wrestled for Skutt High School in Omaha and was an All-American at the University of Iowa. This was Gilman’s first Olympic games.
