Des Moines city workers to be surveyed on their COVID vax status

(Des Moines, IA) -- Des Moines city workers are to be surveyed about their COVID-19 vaccination status. City Manager Scott Sanders has sent a memo to staff, stressing the need for an accurate assessment of vaccination rates. Sanders said results could determine if mandatory immunizations are needed among city staff.

I’m directing each department to determine, the vaccination status of every City employee. This will provide us an accurate assessment of how our vaccination rates compare to the broader community and if we need to improve our vaccination coverage through mandatory immunizations.

The bottom line is this – as a staff serving a City of 214,133 residents, we must be able to meet the needs of our community during this historic pandemic and to do that, we have to remain healthy and working during these most trying of times.
