Des Moines' Brenton Skating Plaza To Open November 19th

(Des Moines, IA) -- The Brenton Skating Plaza, downtown Des Moines opens November 19th. The skating plaza is now being managed by the Des Moines Park and Recreation Department.

Spokesperson Jen Fletcher says online registration is encouraged, walk-up admission will be allowed if there's capacity. Each skating capacity will be limited to 175 people (150 reserved and 25 walk-ups)

Fletcher says opening night will feature a visit from Santa, holiday tree lighting and chainsaw ice carver. Help us select what the finished product will be by voting online now through Nov. 18

Free learn to skate clinics are available on Saturday, Dec.11, Saturday, Jan.8 and Saturday, Feb. 12 from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. for ages 4 and up. Online pre-registration is required.

The city is hiring some seasonal part-timers:
