(Iowa City, IA) -- Hospital workers in Iowa say wait times in emergency rooms have been going up.

Some say it can take hours to be treated.

"In an emergency room, unlike an urgent care or quick care [clinic] where you have such a varied spectrum, the sickest always go first," says Dr. Theresa Brennan, Chief Medical Officer with University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

She says people with mild symptoms like fevers and coughs can be treated faster at clinics.
