(Waukee, IA) -- The City of Waukee is announcing numbers for the first weekend of electric scooters in the city. The electric scooter company and app Bird provided Waukee with fifty scooters Friday. The city’s Parks and Recreation department is saying early data shows the scooters were ridden for over 230 miles in just the first two days. The Bird scooters are available to ride for anyone eighteen and older. The agreement with Bird costs the city nothing financially. Waukee will be evaluating the pilot program this fall to decide if the scooters will be kept permanently.
