Bill Addressing Catalytic Converter Thefts Passes Iowa House

(Des Moines, Iowa) -- The Iowa House passes a bill designed to address rising catalytic converter thefts in Iowa.

The bill requires sellers to provide original documentation for replacement catalytic converters bought within the last 30 days before selling or junking them. Catalytic converters contain high-value materials such as rhodium, palladium, and platinum. Rhodium itself it worth $14,500 per ounce.

The bill passed the Iowa House with bipartisan support and now head back to the Iowa Senate.
