(Cedar Falls, Iowa) -- Residents in Cedar Falls can take the month off from mowing.

The City of Cedar Falls will not enforce the city's maximum 8-inch grass height ordinance through the end of May in an effort to support bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. The city says this is a voluntary initiative, and residents can decide whether or not to participate.

Residents who choose not to mow will have to have their lawns back within city ordinance guidelines by June 1st.
