One Person Dead After Des Moines County Grain Silo Collapse

(Yarmouth, Iowa) -- One person is confirmed dead after a grain silo collapsed in eastern Iowa.

The Des Moines County Sheriff's Office says rescue crews responded to reports of the collapse around 8am Tuesday. Two employees were at the scene at the time of the collapse, and one was unable to be located. The collapse happened at the Agri-way grain elevator in Yarmouth, Iowa. Rescue operations continued overnight into Wednesday, and the body of the missing employee was found around 1:15 Wednesday afternoon.

Investigators say the site of the collapse remains dangerous and will be restricted until further notice.
