(Des Moines, IA) -- Iowans will notice a big temperature swing this week. Tuesday, several hot weather records were set but thanks to a cold front arriving late Tuesday night, there's a big change coming. Scattered showers arrived today (Wednesday) and temperatures were much cooler. Meteorologist Cory Martin in the National Weather Service in Des Moines says temperatures will fall close to 50-degrees in central Iowa this (Wednesday) night.

Martin says temperatures will remain cool but comfortable Thursday, in the 60s, with some sunshine. He says Friday is expected to be wet, windy, and cool, with temperatures struggling to hit 60-degrees.

Forecasters are predicting temperatures in the mid-to upper 70s in central Iowa this weekend.
