Iowa Drought Conditions Deepen

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Another mostly dry week across Iowa sees the state sliding further into drought.

This week's U.S. Drought Monitor Map shows more extreme drought in Northwest Iowa, and more severe drought in Western and Southeast Iowa.

There's still a spot of exceptional drought in Western Iowa's Woodbury County.

The new map is also continuing to show the entire state of Iowa in some level of drought or near-drought.

The weekend forecast does call for widespread rain across Iowa with one- to three-inches possible in some places.

The National Weather Service also says light snow is possible in Western Iowa from late Friday night through early Saturday morning.
