(Des Moines, IA) -- Artists will soon be hiding handmade ornaments in downtown Des Moines. The Greater Des Moines Partnership says each day from December 2nd, to December 11th, ornaments will be placed in areas near shops, restaurants and other attractions, downtown, in the Western Gateway, Court Avenue, and in the East Village. The annual program is aimed at encouraging visitors to eat and shop downtown.

“Hide and Seek Ornaments You Keep is a great way to support local artists and explore Downtown Des Moines,” said Jerrica Marshall, Downtown Placemaking Manager at The Partnership. “This winter is sure to be epic with so many holiday activities including the ornament hunt, as well as events like the Holiday Promenade in Historic East Village and Winter Farmers’ Market in the Historic Court District.”

Artists that will be participating in the event include:

Autumn Rozario

Tone The Movemaker

Jami Milne

Megan Hammer

Jennifer Leatherby

Marion Nehmer

Sabrina Carper

Hanna Piepel

Rose Bell

Nicole James

Emily MacFarland

Tim Schmitt

Sara Carlson

Jess Quinn

Artists will post pictures and clues on the whereabouts of the ornaments each day using #downtownDSM and #DSMlocal. Interested individuals can find more information as well as ornament photos by following @downtownDSMUSA on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Participants who find an ornament are encouraged to share a photo of themselves with the ornament for social media and then take it home with them. Please limit to one ornament per family.
