Lincoln native Malachi Coleman decommits from Huskers

(Lincoln, NE) -- A highly sought-after football recruit pulls his commitment from Nebraska and says he's reopening his recruitment.

On Thursday, Lincoln native and four-star recruit Malachi Coleman announced on Twitter that he would be opening his options back up. He committed to Nebraska while Mickey Joseph was interim head coach. Joseph was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of strangulation and domestic assault.

Coleman originally chose the hometown Huskers over programs like Oklahoma, Michigan, Oregon, USC and Georgia. The Lincoln East senior helped lead the Spartans to back-to-back state playoffs. In his junior year, Coleman racked up 571 receiving yards and ten touchdowns.

He is among the nation's top 100 recruits.
