UIHC Announces Visitor Restrictions, Screenings

(Iowa City, IA) -- The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics has new visitor screenings and restrictions. The hospital made the changes due to rising RSV, COVID, and flu cases.

Per UIHC...

For adult patients (18+)

Inpatient

  • Two visitor/support person is allowed per patient per day.
  • Visiting hours are from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.


Surgical and procedural patients:

  • Two visitor/support person is allowed per patient per day.

Outpatients

  • Two visitors/support persons are allowed for patients aged 18–21.
  • One visitor/support person is allowed for patients aged 22–64.
  • Two visitors/support persons are allowed for patients aged 65 and older.
  • One visitor/support person is allowed for prenatal appointments.


Emergency Department

  • One visitor/support person per patient is allowed.

Labor and Delivery Unit

  • Two visitors/support people plus birth support person/doula or partner (father/designee of baby) are allowed per patient.

For pediatric patients (age 0-17)

Inpatients

  • Two visitors/support persons are allowed per patient per day.
  • Visiting hours are from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Only parents/ legal guardians may stay overnight.
  • Visitors under the age of 18 are not permitted in the NICU and PICU/PCICU.

Surgical and procedural patients

  • Two adult visitor/support persons are allowed per patient per day.

Outpatients

  • Two adult visitors/support persons are allowed
  • This includes newborn wellness visits (2 months of age or less).
