Nebraska Law Enforcement Continues Holiday Patrols

Nebraska State Troopers and other law enforcement agencies in the area continue to be on the lookout for impaired drivers and other traffic violations during this Holiday Week between Christmas and New Year's.

The Patrol has been taking part in the annual "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign, which runs through New Year's Day.

Troopers are working overtime, which is being funded by a grant from the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office.

The Patrol urges all motorists to plan ahead if their New Year’s celebrations involve alcohol.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that, on average, 32 people in the United States die every day in drunk-driving crashes.

In Nebraska, there are an average of more than 70 alcohol-related fatalities each year.

This year, NSP has made 945 arrests for impaired driving.
