Man killed in Council Bluffs garage explosion identified

(Council Bluffs, IA) -- The man killed in a Council Bluffs explosion is identified.

The Council Bluffs Fire Department says 56 year old Martin Desomma was killed in the Tuesday morning explosion near 35th and Avenue G.

CBFD says just before noon on Tuesday, emergency crews were called to the home for a reported explosion. Fire crews arrived on scene and found no active fire or gas leak, but Desomma was found dead. Preliminary investigation findings conclude that a compressed natural gas cylinder exploded in the garage of the home. Two more compressed natural gas containers were removed from the property as a safety precaution.

Investigators say an autopsy will be conducted as part of the investigation into Desomma's death.
