Quad Cities Sees Increasing Kia And Hyundai Thefts

(Davenport, IA) -- The Quad Cities is dealing with an uptick of Kia and Hyundai car thefts.

Rock Island Police say 74 Kia and Hyundai cars were stolen in 2022, more than any other model.

The Insurance Institute of Highway Safety says certain models of the cars are easier to break into as they don’t have electronic immobilizers to prevent someone from bypassing the ignition.

Kia and Hyundai cars have been targeted nationwide by thieves.
