Man Charged In Deadly Cedar Rapids Shooting In 2020

(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- A 20-year-old man is charged in a deadly shooting in Cedar Rapids. Police say Damontie Haggstrom-Wells is accused of shooting Daniel Spangler during an attempted burglary May 22nd, 2020. Police were called to the 500 block of B Avenue NW that day, and found Spangler's body. Haggstrom-Wells was currently in prison on other, unrelated charges. He's now charged with First Degree Murder and First Degree Attempted Burglary as well as Going Armed With Intent. He's also charged with Attempted Murder & Burglary from a case May 21st, 2020, the day before Spangler was shot. That case stemmed from a burglary in the 300 block of Jacolyn Drive SW in Cedar Rapids.
