Improvements to Lock and Damn 14 Begin

(LeClaire, IA) -- Upgrades for the Lock and Dam 14 near LeClaire are starting.

A mooring cell will be added as part of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' $940 million Navigation and Ecosystem Program.

The project is expected to take until 2024, but most of the physical work could be done in the next few months.

The Corps' says the project will bring extensive improvements to the upper Mississippi River.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers held a groundbreaking yesterday.
