Four girls arrested in assault of south Omaha woman and her daughter

(Omaha, NE) -- Four girls are arrested after a social media video shows them assaulting another teen and the girl's mother.

Omaha Police say the assault happened the evening of Monday, April 3rd near 23rd and J streets. Araceli Vidal told officers that the girls showed up to her house to fight her daughter, Itzel. Vidal reported that the girls drug Itzel out of the house and began to hit her. Vidal says in trying to break up the fight, she was pushed to the ground and punched, causing her to miscarry.

Police say officers with the OPD Assault Unit took over the investigation and began attempting to identify and locate the suspects. Soon thereafter, police say they discovered that video of the incident was recorded and posted on social media. OPD thanked the concerned citizens who sent the video to the department. OPD says investigators have identified and arrested four girls.

Omaha Police say investigators are working with the Douglas County Juvenile County Attorney as the investigation continues.
