Winds Persist; Thunderstorms Possible Tonight

The National Weather Service Omaha/Valley says scattered thunderstorms are expected in eastern Nebraska and western Iowa late tonight, a few of which could be strong to severe.

The forecasters say the primary issue will be hail up to golf-ball size, mainly between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. Wednesday.

The Weather Service says high fire danger is forecast this afternoon from south central into northeast Nebraska: along and west of a Fairbury to Lincoln to Tekamah to Onawa, Iowa line.

They say southeast winds could gust up to 30-35 mph, as relative humidity drops to 25-35%, and any wildfires could become difficult to control.
