(Des Moines, IA) -- Iowa Republican U.S. Congressman Zach Nunn is proposing legislation that would increase cyber security in schools.

Nunn says the plan would accomplish three things:

  • Work with the Cyber, Infrastructure, and Security Agency; think of it as a 9-1-1 operation center
  • Provide a voluntary bank of information coming in that can be categorized to ensure that attacks don't get replicated in other communities
  • Providing those resources that make the plan sustainable year after year

The proposal comes after cyber attacks shut down Des Moines Public Schools for several days in January of this year.

Nunn says the plan is receiving bipartisan support.
