NWS: Mississippi River Flood In NE Iowa Bigger Than 1993 Flood

(Davenport, IA) -- The National Weather Service is expecting the Mississippi River crest in northeast Iowa to shake up the record books, replacing 1993 as the third all time biggest flood between Camanche and Dubuque, Iowa. Hydrologist Matt Wilson says the river is expected to crest in Dubuque early Saturday, April 29th at 23.2 feet. He says the crest down river from Camanche, including at the Quad Cities will likely be in the top 5.

The river at Camanche is expected to crest at 23.1 on early May 1st.

The river at Rock Island is expected to crest at 21.6 feet during the afternoon or evening of May 1st.

The river at Muscatine is expected to crest May 2nd.

The river at Burlington is expected to May 3rd or May 4th. at 22.2 feet,

Wilson says they are also watching the Rock River in Moline, but he does not expect it to enter flood stage.
