Omaha Farmers Market opens for the season this weekend

(Omaha, NE) -- The Omaha Farmers Market returns for the season this weekend and it's celebrating a major milestone.

The 2023 edition of the Omaha Farmers Market marks 30 years of the market being held. Opening weekend is Saturday, May 6 in the Old Market and Sunday, May 7 in Aksarben Village. Running for 24 consecutive weekends, the Omaha Farmers Market operates rain or shine through October 15. Saturday’s Market is in the Old Market (11th & Jackson Street) from 8am to 12:30pm. The Sunday Market takes place in Aksarben Village (67th & Center Street) from 9am to 1pm.

“The Omaha Farmers Market has grown so much over the past 30 years – we feel lucky to celebrate such a major milestone,” said Vic Gutman, Founder and Executive Director of the Omaha Farmers Market. “My favorite part of both markets is how they’ve become integrated into so many people’s lives, that this is a space people find joy and excitement as well as delicious, locally-grown food.”

To kick-off the 30th season, a ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at the Saturday Market just before the Market opens at 8am. Limited edition 30th anniversary merchandise will be available for purchase throughout the season including t-shirts, sweatshirts, and tote bags.

This season, over 100 local season vendors are back as 22 new vendors will make their Omaha Farmers Market debut. For a complete list of OFM season vendors, visit www.omahafarmersmarket.com.
