(Omaha, NE) -- An Omaha woman is sentenced to prison for the death of a child that was in her care.

On Friday, Antonea Cannon was sentenced in Douglas County Court to 70 to 72 years in prison for intentional child abuse resulting in death. Cannon told police that 5 year old Jaylen Hearnes' biological mother had asked to take the boy out to lunch, then returned him to the care of Cannon's 12 year old sister who had been babysitting Hearnes. Cannon then told police when she returned from work, she took Hearnes with her to pick up her other children at daycare. She says that's when Hearnes became unresponsive and she took him to the hospital.

Police say that story doesn't add up and that Cannon's 12 year old sister told officers she wasn't at home babysitting the boy on the day in question. The girl told police that the last time she saw Hearnes alive, was the day before the boy died.

Investigators say injuries on Hearnes' body were consistent with child abuse.
