(Des Moines, IA) -- A new, interactive alpaca exhibit is coming to Blank Park Zoo.

In an announcement on social media, the zoo says Alpaca Acres will open in Kids Kingdom on Memorial Day.

The zoo says guests will be able to meet some of their newest residents: eight female alpacas. The herd is undergoing a routine quarantine before they can join the zoo’s other residents.

Alpaca Acres will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. daily through Labor Day. It costs $6/person, with an additional $2/cup to feed the alpacas.

The exhibit is in partnership with Rusty Stars Alpacas.

The zoo raised funds for Alpaca Acres through last year’s Giving Tuesday.
