Iowa Food Assistance Program Gets $3M Extension

(Des Moines, IA) -- An Iowa food assistance program is getting an extension.

The state of Iowa is investing an additional nearly $3 million in the Iowa Local Food Purchasing Assistance Program, to help Iowa grown food go to underserved communities.

The extra funds will keep the program open through May 2025, benefiting at least 300 Iowa farmers and more than 2,000 food distribution sites.

By 2025, the program will have invested more than $5.5 million in Iowa's underserved communities.
