Bill Making School Meals Free For Illinois Students Ready To Be Signed

(Springfield, IL) -- A bill that would make school meals free for Illinois students is ready to be signed into law.

The bill was passed by the House and Senate and is waiting to be signed by Governor J.B. Pritzker.

The legislation came after a federal program making school meals free during the COVID-19 pandemic ended last summer.

School districts providing free meals can get reimbursement from the state.
